Pat: Hi, I was overweight when I was pregnant with my son, I actually lost weight while I was pregnant and my post pregnancy weight was 20lbs less than my pre pregnancy weight. In fact, I was so concerned with my weight at the beginning of my pregnancy, but, my doctor was concerned that I was not eating enough because I lost weight the whole way through the pregnancy. By the end of the pregnancy, I had only gained 8 lbs...I lost 28lbs during the pregnancy and gained 8lbs back by the end...my son was and still is very healthy. I have always had a weight problem and am constantly trying to lose weight. I have lost 17lbs in the past 3 months and am still trying to lose. So, as long as you are eating healthy and getting a moderate amount of safe exercise, you should be ok. If your doctor is not concerned, worry about your weight later...Good luck and I will pray for you to have a healthy baby! BTW, how far along are you?
