antibiotics, metro-gel,yeast,thrush....help!From: alli (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 3 Jan 2001 22:06:23 -0600 (CST)
Tetracycline in Sept. for acne, yeast! Treated with gynolotrimin (don't know if it went away or not?) Cyst on Labia in October (treated with a strong antibiotic, Cept...something) Cyst went away immediately. Yeast came on strong, treated with Diflucan, gynolotrimin and diflucan once more. Increase in vaginal secretions (been told can be normal) got me thinking I could have BV, so used a previously prescribed, but never used, tube of metrogel. Major yeast (cottage cheese and all) treating it with gynolotrimin, again! Went to dentist today, thinks I may have yeast on insides of my cheeks, didn't test it, just gave me a rinse. I panicked, thrush=aids! Went to a Dr. for a second opinion, he said it looked like I have been biting and sucking on the insides of my cheeks, not a plaque-build up like thrush would be. I have had 4 neg HIV tests. All tests were done outside of the 6mo. waiting period. Swear on my mother's bible, I have not been at risk for over 12 years (unprotected sex with men). My tests were done at 3mos after last possible exposure, and three at 8 years after the last possible exposure. first test at a college blood drive, second from HOME ACCESS, (I got freaked out several years ago and took another test, just to be 100% positive I has negative), two tests from recent blood drives. The Dr. said the dentist was wrong, but said that even if I had thrush, it would be understandable, and not alarming to him. He sent some of my cheek to the lab and I will have the results on whether this is thrush or just nervous biting. I am concerned. I only know that thrush is a sign of AIDS. Should I worry, should I not believe the previous 4 tests? Would i be really sick if I had AIDS and it was never discovered in any of the tests in 12 years? Other than these yeast infections, I have no other symptoms. The tests were from reliable, FDA, sites (Home Access, and States of both Colorado and Washington blood drive labs. Bonafide in Colorado and Inland Blood, in Washington. HELP!
