Long cycle and wanting to start the pillFrom: Shelley (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 31 Dec 2000 07:52:07 -0600 (CST)
I usually have pretty regular cycles, but this month my pre-ovulatory phase was a lot longer than usual (probably delayed ovulation due to stress of having some health problems come up). During this phase, I had 12 days of heavy discharge (fertile quality CM). BBT indicates I have finally ovulated, and I will most likely start my period in two weeks, on a Sunday. I want to start the pill but was unsure if I should start it on the Sunday my period starts. I usually only have light spotting for the first day. I was also concerned that the extra pre-ovulatory days under high estrogen would have built up my uterine lining much more than normal, and that I might not want to cut my period short by starting the pill on the first day, thereby preventing the extra thick lining from sloughing off. Is this really an issue, or will the pill take care of things?
