Re: Anxiety?From: dbb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 31 Dec 2000 07:24:20 -0500
Maybe if you have a hard time bringing the subject up, write your DR a letter. There are medications to help with anxiety attacks. Could be postpartum depression. At any rate, you need help before you hurt yourself or anyone around you. Xanax can help with anxiety and if it is depression, there are great medications for that, Wellbutrin won't make you sleepy. I currently take that for Situational depression dealing with my husband who is chronically ill. It is normal to focus nearly exclusively on the new bundle after birth, but the other people in your life will support you if you let them. Please Write and then talk to your DR. -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Behalf Of Concerned Sent: Sunday, December 31, 2000 5:57 AM To: Multiple recipients of list WOMENS-HEALTH Subject: Anxiety? I had a baby about 5 months ago. Since then my personal life has gone down hill. The moment my baby was born, my attitude toward my husband of ten years suddenly changed. Well, my attitude toward every one. I have always been reserved, but now it is worse. I go to work and home. The only important thing is my child. I have been so short and rude with my husband, I have no idea why he is still here. I have always been close to my mom, but I don't even want to talk to her. I also had a few anxiety attacks. I missed a lot of work during my pregnancy because I had toxima and since my son has been sick. I have thought about a therapist, but I'm afraid if I miss any more work I'll get fired. I told one of the nurses at my doctors office about my panic attacks, now I get treated with kid gloves by the nurses and my doctor just said, "don't get so nervous". Now she is leaving and I can't discuss it with any one else, considering the warm treatment from her. (On my doctors behalf I never went into full detail with her.) I happen to be on the shy side and have always had a hard time talking to new people. So now what? Any one have any ideas, I don't know what else to do.
