laser laparoscopy

Okay, so after months of searching...I have finally found a physician who can treat my endometriosis (we live in a very small town). Anyway, I'm scheduled to have laser surgery in January, but I'm very scared. I have had four (4) previous laparoscopies and I have a great fear of general anesthisia (sp?). Anyway, I'm wondering what is the best way to relieve some of these fears? I have asked if we can use local instead, but have been told no. Also, after the endometriosis is removed, what kind of follow up should I expect. In the past, I have always just seen my family physician for annual exams until the pain is so bad he refers me to a specialist....is it better to continue seeing my new ob/gyn for even annual exams? Thank you so much for taking to the time to answer these questions!!
