I don't know the percentage, and I am not sure anyone does. Supracervical hysterectomies, while increasing, are still a rarity. If there is some endometrium with a small portion of the uterus left behind, this can cause persistant periods. If the entire uterus is removed, and only the cervix is left, there should not be any bleeding.

>I had a supracervical hyster. for fibroids about 4 years ago. I could only keep one ovary. After my surgery, I felt like I was having normal cycles. I did spot monthly, during the time I would expect a period. It was very light. My doc said there could be some endometrial tissue in the cervix. My ovary shut down 2 years after the surgery.
