Unexplained vaginal bleeding - complicated historyFrom: Paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 28 Dec 2000 14:43:53 -0600 (CST)
I am 33 yrs old, no pregnancies, with history including DES exposure, mild endometriosis, abnormal cervical cells detected by paps and colposcopies (all benign), HPV exposure. I have undergone IVF twice, to no avail, because my eggs were not good quality. I have not had any infertility treatments or meds for a year. Last May, I had an abnormal pap, after which a cervical biopsy revealed inflammation of my cervix. My docotr assured me that the changes were benign and not neoplastic, and probably due to frequent cervical procedures during IVF cycles. For the past couple of months, I have been experiencing mid-cycle bleeding. My cycles are irregular in length (28 to 38 days) and always have been. Generally, the spotting starts around cycle day 11. It is sometimes brownish, but usually bright red, and is mainly noticeable on toilet tissue when I wipe after urinating. (I have confirmed with a tampon that the bleeding is in fact vaginal). Sometimes it is also noticeable in a pantyliner. Sometimes, but less frequently, there is a brownish discharge, sometimes sticky, sometimes thin and watery. I am unable to get in to see my OB/GYN for a couple of weeks. Any answers or advice would be greatly appreciated.
