missing cycle and endometrial biopsy

I had an endometrial biopsy done on 12/21/00 and experienced the light bleeding and cramping afterwards. But by the time I had gone to bed, the bleeding had all but stopped, but the cramps were still there.

The next day all hell broke loose. I went through 4 pads in 8 hours and was cramping so badly I couldn't stand up. We called both my ob/gyn and my primary and they both said to go the ER. The ER did a pelvic exam and an internal vaginal ultrasound and measured at least one fibroid at 3cm and diagnosed abnormal excessive bleeding. My first question is this, could there be more fibroids in uteruo that were not measured? I am not sure if my doctors are going to do another ultrasound to find out, but I really hope not. I am tired of being poked, prodded, stuck, pinched, etc.

My 2nd question is this, my period was due to show up on 12/26 and still hasn't. Could the bleeding I experienced on 12/22 after the biopsy have been my period. I bled off and on for a few days afterward. I am trying to chart the irregularity of my cycles and if that was my cycle for this month then it is still screwed up. For September, October, and November my cycles were 21 days if I was lucky then the end of November it hit 30 days now if this was my cycle for December it is back at 21 days. This is getting so confusing. I had been very regular since the onset of my period when I was 12, it has been just during the last year that everything has gone haywire.

Thank you for any advice you can give.
