I told her that I wanted Sarafem by Eli Lilly 9snip). Most medical texts advise that the first step (after taking a history and performing a physical exam) is to ask the patient to keep a premenstrual calendar. In fact, if an ob/gyn were to tell an oral board examiner (while trying to become board certified) that he or she prescribed PMS medication without first getting a handle on which of the 100 or so PMS symptoms were present, it is quite possible the doctor would fail the board exams. Your first doctor may not have done exactly what you wished, but it sounds like he was trying to do things "by the book." Would you be writing us if the medication did not work? I am happy you have found relief from your symptoms, but I am saddended by your unkind attitude towards the first doctor. DAH
