breast biopsy methods

My recent mammogram showed some coarse calcifications. A biopsy has been recommended, and two approaches have been suggested: either a sonogram with a core needle biopsy, or a mammotome biopsy. I would appreciate any input on the advantages/disadvantages of these methods. Many thanks.
