painful spot on outer labiaFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 20 Dec 2000 16:12:39 -0600 (CST)
I found a bump on the outside of my outer labia the other day that had no good explanation. This bump has now flattened out but it also hurts a bit -- especially when I get out of the shower and the skin is still damp. Most of the time I don't feel it, but once in a while during the day my underwear rubs it in the wrong way and it hurts. It is red but not open like a cut or a scab. It usually hurts when I touch it but not always (for example, I was looking at it with a mirror and the skin was pulled because of the position. When I touched it it did not hurt. However, I stood up, so the skin was in a normal position, and it DID hurt when I touched it.) What in the world? I didn't do any sports, sex or anything where I might have irritated this body part. Is this the way any STD behaves? I have an appt with my Dr. but I'm trying to get a grip on this before I see her. Your speedy insight is greatly appreciated. Concerned - Bette
