Amanda,

If it makes you feel any better, I took Alesse for 1 year and had no sex drive at all. I was 23 at the time, and in good health. I told my doctor within the first month that my sex drive was gone. She told me to wait for a few months, so my body could adjust. Then after 1 year, I asked a different doctor. The second doctor said, "I don't see how your birth control pills will affect your sex drive." But she switched me to Loestrin.

Loestrin helped a little bit, but I think I was just happy to be off of Alesse. Then I stopped the Loestrin as well, just to see what happens. I used no hormones at all. After 3 months, my drive only slightly increased. Like your experience, I was just "less opposed" to having sex.

My big problem with the pill was the dryness. Even if I wanted to have sex, my body wouldn't cooperate. If my body wouldn't cooperate, I'd lose interest. I started drinking a lot of water and that actually helped. I'm back on Loestrin, and I drink a lot of water. So, the bottom line is that I had the same experience, and drinking a lot of water helped me.
