It is very normal for the cervix to appear and actually be irritated from time to time. If a pap is done during a time of irritation, it will occasionally come back with a mild abnormality. The cause for this periodic irritation is varied and often unclear. The bottom line is that if you leave things alone and repeat the pap down the road, the mild abnormalities will clear up. Those that don't clear up require further attention. It is not unusual to have some spotting after a pap. This usually is not accompanied by cramping. I would mention the cramping to your physician when you talk today... Lynn
