As long as hypertension is controlled, BCP's are safe. Given the 150/90, it would seem that the Tenormin needs to be optimized a little-with or without the BCP's.

And I also have MVP, which probably is the reason for the blood >pressure being elevated.

I very much doubt that your MVP has anything to do with your hypertension. At least I hope not cause then there would be other significant cardiac manifestations.

That's going to have to be a judgement call. If it is a matter of documenting attempts at medical therapy so that surgery can be approved, then you physician simply should state his/her concern regarding the safety of BCP's in light of your hypertension. The reviewer won't know the specifics and will likely approve the surgery. >
