Charlotte, I would like to comment on why I think women are afraid to go for thier first pelvic exam .In my opinion it is the fear of the unknown , There are horror stories associated with everything in life. When I was pregnant with my first child I heard several labor and delivery horror stories that absolutely made me petrified and unsure of what was going to happen to me during labor and delivery, I have to say that my personnal experience was not all that bad in fact I chose to go through it again.I think it is wonderful when someone chooses to educate other women on a specific matter but please get your facts right before trying to do so.I really doubt that Drs. are needlessly trying to hurt women but if there are a few out there that are I am sure that They will be turned in and delt with appropriatly.The Drs. on this forum volunteer thier time to help educate and answer everyones questions that are posted to them.So you see there are plenty of Drs. out there are are here to help women not hurt them.
