I am a 25 year old female who usually have 3 day periods. After starting the pill ortho-tri-cyclen about 10 months ago, I began experiencing 5 day periods. Can you please explain why I am having a period for 17 days and still counting. I have never experienced anything like this in my life, other than when I had my daughter over 3 years ago, and even then my period only lasted for a week and a half. I have now started my third week. Also, it came one week early, and has been a steady flow. I have a Dr.'s appt. today but who wants to see the gyno while they are menustrating? certainly not me, but I can't help but to be concerned about this. Can you please shed some light as to several reasons this could be happening to me, and what it may be caused from. I have also been emotionally distressed because of the duration of my period. PLEASE HELP!!! Is this normal, and should I go to my Dr. today, or ride this out and see her after this dilema ends?
