Inquiring about complaint to medical boardFrom: AMD (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 11 Dec 2000 13:51:46 -0600 (CST)
In our state, the board of medical examiners has a web site that lists information about licensed doctors, including any board actions and the number of complaints. For a doc I was considering, there are 2 dismissed complaints from the past 5 years, and one pending complaint. Is it reasonable and appropriate for me to ask the doctor (or his staff) about the nature of these complaints? What is the best way to pose the question without causing offense? This person was recommended by a current practitioner. Thanks, Andrea
