None-the-less, here are some question to ask in general anytime you are faced with surgery. -What are the prospects that the surgery will correct the problem I am having -If my ovaries are to be removed, what is considered for estrogen replacement -How many or how often have you performed this surgery -What are my anesthetic choices and will I have an opportunity to meet with MY anesthesiologist before surgery. -What can I expect for pain following the surgery -What are the risks of the procedure -What are the prospects of using blood and if so, can I designate a donor-what are the mechanics for using a designated donor -What is my recovery time -What will be my activity restrictions following surgery -When can I return to work following surgery -Will insurance pay for my surgery-do I need preapproval from my insurance carrier That is a start...
