Early blood test? Sort of long.

I figure this question is for a doc, but anyone with good info would be nice.

My last shot of depo was due in June - my husband and I chose to discontinue its use in the attempt to become pregnant. I have not had a period for approx. 2 years. For the past few months I have had "fertility signs" and have been periodically checking my cervical position. Beginning of Nov. I had obvious EWCM for 3 days and sore breasts so I assumed it was a sign of ovulation. My husband and I had sex the first day of the EWCM and I think a few days after that (we weren't seriosuly trying and I was uncertain as to the reality of ovulation so we didn't even discuss it). Since then I have had constipation/abdominal cramping/frequent urination/milky CM/and a soft, mid height cervix. Because of these symptoms I had a blood test done a week ago and it came back negative (I think it was qualative). But, I'm not sure when I concieved. Is it possible that I am pregnant and it was not picked up by the blood test (I'm guessing it was approx 11-14 dpo). The reason I ask is because of the continued soft cervix (where it had been hard in previous months) and other symptoms.

Sorry this is so long, but I want to know the chances to see if I should pay to get an ultrasound to verify pregnancy or not (I've decided I don't trust hpt's or blood tests enough to pay for another one!) Thanks for any advice!
