In 1998, right after turning 29, I started having problems and was forced to see a gyn for the first time. I knew all those years that I should be going but just could not make myself go. Back then, I thought that I could never go through it and that I would never go. Now two years plus some later, I have been through three yearly exams (and alot of other stuff) and it was not bad at all. As some else posted, tell the doctor that it is your first exam. I think this makes them explain each step more and it will make it easier. Also, asking around about gyns. is also a good idea. I was so lucky, as I just picked one out of the phone book.
