A Bit Frightened by some recent posts here...

~Hello Again~

I recently posted here - just yesterday, I think - thanking everyone here for the helpful information I've read during my months of 'lurking' here.

At 33 years of age, I have finally made the decision to see a gyn. After reading several posts re: pain during exams, especially for virgins, my anxiety has turned into borderline fear. The reasons for a pelvic exam to be more difficult for a virgin make perfect sense. I guess my question is this: Is there anything I can do prior to the exam to prepare for it to make things a bit easier? I know some of my anxiety/fear stems from fear of the unknown, yet I'm also a bit of a coward!

Thank you.
