no need to be apologetic. Personally, I'd rather have 3 pap tests than one cavity filled... :-) To make things easier, why don't you take a friend? Preferably female, of course, or your boyfriend (if he's not easily embarrassed)? To protect your private information, s/he could wait outside until the exam starts. That way, you'd have somebody to hold your hand during the actual exam. Or if the doc is unhappy with having another person in there (your friend might be more nervous than you!), s/he could at least wait for you with a hug.

In any case, breathe deeply and don't tense up - the more you clench your muscles, the harder it is to examine you.
