HRT after bilateral oopherectomyFrom: Cathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Nov 2000 23:10:17 -0600 (CST)
I'm a 42 year old who just recently had a bilateral oopherectomy for the purpose of relieving extremely bad PMS and cyclic vasculitis. My vasculitis has been in remission since the procudure (three weeks ago), but I have been having trouble with hormone replacement. I was started on Prempro and it worked out alright in the beginning, but then I started to get headaches in the evening. So, I decided to try the Etraderm patch (0.050 mg) with Prometrium. I put the patch on first day and felt like my legs were on fire with a very arthritic feeling in my knees (specifically behind my knees) and groin area. Then, I read the side effects of the Prometrium and decided to rip the patch off and forget the Prometrium all together. Have any of you had these kinds of problems with estroidal or Prempro. If so, what did you do to remedy the situation. As I have no ovaries, I have to take some sort of hormone replacement. Help!!!
