Spotting shouldn't be expected to cause anemia. Heavy periods should be
kept track of to see if they recur and if they're longer than 10 days
routinely, or closer than 21 days apart (for several cycles in a row) or
if the bleeding is so heavy you go through 3 pads fully soaked in one
half hour - call the doctor.
