Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Bowel Problems" The first question I posted was about me having problems with bowel movements, having to place a finger in the vagina to help expell the feces, Dr. von Almen responded by saying that this sounded like I have a rectocele.I then questioned exactlly how a rectocele is repaired. Dr. Wang gave a pretty simple decription OUCH ! Here are my new questions.... I searched the internet for information on rectoceles but still do not understand why I would start having problems now. I had a vaginal delivery in 1982,a cesarean delivery 1987,LAVH & LSO-1998 and an RSO-1999 .Is surgery for a rectocele out patient or is a hospital stay required? If a hospital stay is required approx. how long does one usually have to stay?
