Wow! What good questions. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS at age 30. I told my mother about it, and she talked to her Dr. He told her she probably had undiagnosed PCOS all her life, and started her on Glucophage (she is 57). So I would say it's definitely possible based on her experience.

They do different things. Glucophage helps your body use insulin, but won't lower your blood sugar per se. Avandia lowers blood sugar, so could make you hypoglycemic.

I think so. I have also read that. My endo exclaims at every visit how dry my skin is and she can't believe my thyroid tests are normal. I don't know what can be done about it, if anything. I will say I stopped taking BCPs about a month ago and my skin seems a little better already.

BTW, You are probably aware but there are 3 PCOS boards on this server also. Good luck, Carla
