Alesse vs. Mircette vs. Diane-35 vs. Desogen/Ortho-Cept

I found this site purely by chance when I keyed in "Alesse" on a seach engine. Frankly, I am shocked at the various arguments for and against whatever brand of oral contraceptions. I am 34 years old and have never taken oral contraception before. I just started taking Alesse on Nov. 21st (today is Nov. 29th), and I am already shedding like a cat (I can run my hand through my hair and come away with many strands of hair), whereas I did not have much hair shedding before not to mention I am getting acne where I did not have acne before.

I was alarmed to find out via this website and another one <http://www.hairsite.com/f129dental2/discfem129_toc.htm> that that Alesse is a very androgenic pill with strong male hormones and can cause constant breakthrough bleeding even after the 3-month trial. I am surprised my female doctor did not mention this, as all she said this was one of the lowest-hormone pills on the market and she said her patients in the majority had no problems with it.

What I am writing about is that would a non-androegenic pill be benefical in lessening hair loss and acne? What are the merits of Alesse vs. Desogen/Ortho-Cept vs. Mircette vs. Diane-35. I live in Canada, and I am not sure if Diane-35 is available here. Frankly, it just worries me what I am doing to myself at the age of 34 by taking birth control pills for the first time in my life, but I most certainly do not want to use the diaphragm or have an IUD inserted. I did check out Deepo-Provera but I am not sure if that is for me because I would like to suspend my period if I am on vacation. I will certainly be talking to my doctor about this, but it would also help if anyone in this forum might be able to offer advice on the pros and cons of those pills I mentioned.
