New BCP and massive migrainesFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Nov 2000 08:09:21 -0600 (CST)
I have a history of migraines. I see a neurologist who has put me on 250mg Depakote 2x daily as a preventive. I take Maxalt 5-10 mg whenever a migraine comes on. Normally, a migraine is rare for me under these meds, and the Maxalt will take care of it if I have one. I switched from Ortho/Novum 1-35 (back-to-back) to Low-Ogestrol about 3 weeks ago. On Thursday, I was having heavy bleeding, a pad an hour. The on call doc at my GYN's office told me to stop the pills until the bleeding stops. This is the 4th day off of any pill. I'm having a horrible migraine. Vicodin doesn't help. Maxalt doesn't help. It's been going on for 2 days, I'm heading for urgent care in a little bit. What can I do? I was taken off Ortho/Novum because of continuous spotting. Is there any way I can go to some pill and take it back-to-back? I have a history of endo, so I something to keep my hormone levels in check.
