Thyroid problems and menopause?From: Lily (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 28 Nov 2000 02:26:41 -0600 (CST)
Can an early menopause at age 42 after a hysterectomy (retained ovaries) be accompanied by thyroid problems? Is it common for this to happen? The reason I ask is that my doc is having trouble balancing my hormones and I was on the low side of the TSH scale but that was 7 months ago and I haven't been checked since. Besides I would have thought that hypothyroid would be more common in this case - not hyperthyroid. My maternal grandfather had a thyroid condition but none of my other relatives as far as I know. Thanks for your input.
