Hypothyroidism and Clomid

I have always had irregular cycles (abot 35-40 days long), but over the last year they have been increasing in duration until now my last ovulation was July 3. I follow the Fertility Awareness Method and check my cervical fluid and temp each morning. My MD just put me on Provera and Clomid. Today is my first day taking the Clomid (50mgs days 5-9).

My concern is that I believe I might have hypothyroidism. My waking temps average 97.2 and are sometimes as low as 96.4. I have so many of the symptoms - sudden weight gain, coldness, irritability, fatigue, pressure in my throat, etc. My doctor did feel an enlargement in my throat, but did a blood test and said it was normal. He did not pursue anything and did not seem interested in any history or symptoms. My sister and paternal aunt all have hypothyroidism. Should I keep pressing my doctor? If I do have mild hypothyroidism, will Clomid still be effective? I know I can ovulate.
