5 wks LMP & spotting - no sac visible, Hcg levels sufficientFrom: Jill (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 27 Nov 2000 13:33:22 -0600 (CST)
I have been spotting very lightly since approx. 4 weeks, 3 days LMP. Spotting has generally been very light and brown, but was red and very light twice. These two times, I also saw a small blob of what looked like tissue and blood (maybe pea-sized) in the toilet. Spotting seems to be related to activity level. Also, VERY SLIGHT cramping on one side for two VERY short time periods early last week. At 5 weeks, 1 day since LMP, I had a transvaginal ultrasound and blood test. No sac was visible, and my HCG level that day was 4780. I have had two normal pregnancies prior to this. I am concerned about an ectopic pregnancy, but isn't this unlikely given my history of normal pregnancies and no infections or other physiological problems? What are the likely causes and outcomes for this set of facts?
