Dr. Shanahan,

Thanks for the advice. Just for the record, we do not pay for mechanics, or plumbers OR hairstylists! My DH does the mechanical and plumbing stuff and I cut everyones hair including my own.

If we can afford for me to go, then I will. We have a baby born with kidney prolems. For the last year we have taken him to specialists that were not covered on our plan. I would gladly do this for my children but hesitate with myself. Anyway, just wanted to set the record staright. Money is tight and if I can find a covered provider then that is much much better for us. Besdies that we pay a fortune for our health insurance and do not want to pay in addition to that.

Also, are you saying then that a size 4 may work even if there is a gap? What about having a pessary pinch thecervix or other tissue? I put the size 5 in last nigth while in the bathtub. In that postion I was able to get the pessary resting on my pubic bone. guess what? I have mild cramping an dback pain today...DISCOMFORT but no pain. Should I just try this size 5 for awhile longer and see how it feels?

Thanks.

My doctor DID call me back this morning. I told her about the amount of pain I was in on Wednesday from wearing the size 5 pessary and she suggested I go down to a size 4. However, with the size 5 there is a gap between my pubic bone and the pessary. Now there is going to be a larger gap. If I have a gap that means that the pessary will be putting pressure on my bladder and uterus right? > > No. We want the snuggest fit that is comfortable for you, becasue that > is usually the most effective at holding up the prolapse > > I asked her about it not resting on my pubic bone and she said we may > not be able to find one that will rest there. > > > >She also referred to my horrendous pain as "discomfort", would it be rude of me to correct her? > > No -- you could say, that her pessary may be uncomfortable but yours is > painful ;-) > > I guess I want her to know that if it was truly just discomfort then I > would deal with it and not complain but it isn't. She said that if I was considering another baby that the pregnancy would cause the ligaments that were tied to be stretched. She also said there were no guarantees. I am back to being frustrated. I tried to find a urogynecologist who is covered on my health insurance plan but there are none. I was told by my doctor that we had nothing to lose in trying new pessaries except my discomfort! > > > >What would you suggest?
