Re: -how to treat persistant yeast infectionFrom: elizabeth (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 17 Nov 2000 16:22:16 -0600 (CST)
I too am not a doctor, but whenever I see the start of a yeast infection, I immediately start taking acidophilus & bifidus, abut 3 capsules per day at mealtime. Often, I'll increase the dose, as I don't always follow the suggested usage on the bottle. If you have developed a good rapport with your local health foods store owner, or if there is an N.D. on staff, he/she is in a better position to suggest a good brand. I like the Sisu brand. Natural Factors is also good. Almost within a day, the yeast infection disappears once I start taking the acidophilus. I always keep a bottle handy in the fridge as it needs to be kept in a cool place. I have also tried the sitz bath with vinegar and it does work, but depending on how far gone the infection is, the vinegar bath appears to have a temporary soothing effect. Good health to you.
