Breast Lump-Question for Drs.From: Peggy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Nov 2000 12:05:25 -0600 (CST)
Hello Drs. I wrote this question a couple of hours ago but have not seen it posted so I apologize if this gets posted twice.I haven't posted in awhile about this so I will update what has been going on. I posted about a breast lump in the upper part of my right breast that both me and my gyn can palpatate, I had an ultrasound and a spot mammogram but nothing showed up on either one. I saw a surgeon in September and he told me that he thinks what I am feeling is part of the rib cage????? Does the rib cage go up that far?THe reason I am so concerned about this is because I have a sister that was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in August and just completed her chemo treatments yesterday. When I saw the surgeon he said that he did not feel that this was anything that needed to be biopsied but would monitor it and would see me in 3 months.About 2 weeks ago I was doing a self breast exam and noticed another lump about a 1/4 of an inch to the right of the origianl lump. I saw my gyn last Friday and mentioned this to him so he did an exam and was unable to palpatate this new lump but can still feel the original one.I am sheduled for my annual Mammogram on the 12th of December and I have a follow up with the surgeon on the 14th. Should I insist that he do a biopsey?I am frightened that if this isn't looked into further and it is overlooked what the outcome could be.Am I being overly cautious about this? What are your opinions?
