It is rare for men to get bladder (urinary tract) infections. Your boyfriend may have something else. Sex can cause bladder infections, so for those who are predisposed, it is recommended that they urinate after sex to "wash out" the bacteria that may have gotten in the bladder. Spermicidal inserts may give irritation, but not bladder infections. If yuo are not sure what you have, check with your doc.
