Amy I am very sorry for your loss. I understand your confusion but let me reassure you the doctor is doing all the right things. From what you have described it is very unlikey that your pregnancy will continue. It is a miscarriage. Pregnancy hormone levels and progesterone levels are useful before the pregnancy is far enough along to see on the sono. Once you can see the pregnancy on the sono they are no longer necessary, instead repeat sonos can show if the pregnancy is continuing to grow or not. Some doctors will continue to check hormone levels instead of ultrasounds, doctors preference.

That the pregancy has not grown in two weeks is confirmation enough that this is not a normal pregnancy...there should be a huge differrence two weeks later. That they can not see a heartbeat is also confirmation...you can see the heart beat almost the same day you can see the baby. So if they are seeing a baby measuring 7 weeks or more and there is no heartbeat it is a miscarriage.

I hope this reassures you that the doctor is right. If not wait a week and have another ultrasound. As long as you are not bleeding heavy it won't hurt anything to wait. Talk to the doctor and ask him these questions.

Good luck and sorry for your loss.
