I have been taking Ortho Tri-Cyclen for more than two years now. Recently, I have been spotting for one or two days about one to three days before i start taking my reminder pills -- or, more specifically, about three to five days before I get my period (accompanied by very, very mild cramping). This has occurred three times in the past six months. The first time it happened was just after I took a strenuous fitness class, and I attributed it to physical stress. But for the past two months, other than being my usual anxious self, I cannot come up with an explanation. A friend says it could be attributed to the fact that I have trouble taking my pill at the same time every day, and my body becomes "confused" over the fluctuatinging levels of hormones near the end of my cycle, beoming fooled that it ought to begin my period. Is this correct? Or should I consider switching oral contraceptives?
