pessary and urination...From: Cindy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 7 Nov 2000 05:56:54 -0500
Hello, I am sorry for having so many questions concerning my pessary and prolapse. I got my Risser 3 around Oct 13th. I did very well with it for about 2 weeks. As I got closer to starting my period I began to have problems. One night it took me 10 tries to get the Risser back in ( I was told to take it out after intercourse or 1x every 2 weeks) and I was never successful. I did get it back in but have had problems with urination. I just cannot sit down and pee anymore. I have to wiggle around and lean forward as much as possible in order to do this. I have also noticed that I am not emptying my bladder each time. I think I need a bigger size ( I am having trouble with it popping out during my period) pessary but am concerned that if I can't pee very well with the size 3 that a size 4 will make matters worse. I do have cystocele and rectocele. Is the pessary putting direct pressure on the bladder? I'm told I will get used to the pessary but I am in my 4th week. How long does it take? What are my options? Do others with pessaries have similar problems? Thanks.
