Rectocele?From: Jody (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 1 Nov 2000 19:39:08 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I am new to this board and have a few questions. I am 8 months post partum and still having rectal pressure & low back pain. I had a 2nd degree tear and was still having painful intercourse at 4 months so I was rechecked by another OBGYN. He said I was very thin between by vag. and rectum and that with the next baby I might opt for an episiotomy so that it could be repaired with deep stiches. However, the feeling I have everyday is kind of irritating and I don't even know if we will have another child. The sensation is like a weight is pulling down on my perinium. I have a budge in my vagina between my vagina and rectum. I did get 2 hemmoroids with birth as well but they don't seem too bad now. Prior to having the baby I had a fissure which caused rectal bleeding if I didn't watch my fibor intake. That was undercontrol for quite awhile but the bleeding has come back post partum (with hard stools only). I also feel as if I am not emptying my bowel completely when I go. I am not constipated very often but sometimes I can't go for a few days (nothing serious). I was hoping this sensation would improve with Kegals and stomach work but it has not. Should I see a gastroentorologist or some other specialist? Is there anything non-surgical that can be done for a less serious rectocele (if that is what I've described)? I am active and play competitive volleyball and I would love to feel "normal" again. Thank you in advance.
