Janice It's not really an issue. Under general anesthesia, the muscles are very relaxed. I have never had to cut the muscles because I could not move them aside, only when the nature of the proceedure changed, and I needed lots more exposure (unexpected cancer for instance). Certainly, if we (well, not me we, but surgeons we) can operate on the abdomen of men, typically much more heavily muscled than even very fit women, we can operate on you.
