Re: Yeast infection when not breastfeeding???

I suspect I misunderstood the question. I thought yeast infection refered to a vaginal infection, not one of the breast. It is uncommon to have a yeast infection of the breast when not BF. There can be a fungal infection anywhere on the skin, it generally is tinea versicolor - a skin fungus that causes a redness or whitening of the skin. Not usually itchy. A yeast infection of the nipple can cause redness, cracking, itching and bleeding. Often the baby has oral thrush.
