Can attempting to remove endo prompt further growth? From: Linda (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Oct 2000 20:41:33 -0600 (CST)
My doctor is planning to look around for endo "while we're in there" doing a laparoscopic tubal ligation. Sounds like a good idea. He says if there are obvious, easily accessible bits, he can remove them right then. If it's more involved, he'll have to refer me to someone with more endo experience. That sounds sensible, too. But I'm concerned though that messing with it at all might prompt it to grow or spread. I've seen that kind of problem with sarcoids on animals (they can be fine until you try to remove them, then they start growing and causing trouble), and have heard of other similar instances in humans. Right now I'm only experiencing very annoying pain, but not crippling - I'd hate to risk it getting worse. Should I ask my doctor to just leave well enough alone, or is his approach pretty harmless? Thank you!
