Chocolate CystFrom: MJB (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 26 Oct 2000 21:44:21 -0500 (CDT)
I was diagnosed yesterday via a transvaginal US as probably having a chocolate cyst on my right ovary the size of a baseball. I have had symptoms of spotting in mid-cycle after intercourse and dull aches and bloating feeling in that area since May. The doctor told me to come back in after a month to have it checked to see if it went away on its own, and if not, he would schedule laproscopic(sp?) surgery. Is it possible that a chocolate cyst would go away on its own and why would he want to wait a month to do something being the size that it is? Also, I have learned that this type of cyst is due to endometriosis. I am 35 and have never had any symptons of endometriosis in the past, although I have been off the pill for four years and have not become pregnant. Is it possible to get endo later in life?
