Erin, Your entire cycle is based on the ovulatory event. Ovulation can be affected by a variety of factors (stress, exercise, diet, medications). When ovulation does not occur or is delayed (which happens all the time), it screws up the cycle, resulting in bleeding patterns like you have experienced. If this becomes a recurring theme, some choose to go on birth control pills to regulate the bleeding and make it predictable. It doesn't "fix" things, it just regulates things while you are on the pill. You don't have to go on the pill though. You can just wait and see what happens. The cycles may regulate again on their own... Lynn
