I'm presuming you mean a supracervical hysterectomy and the ovaires were left in.

Progesterone is manyfactured after ovulation for 2 weeks, so any progesterone related symptoms for more than 2 weeks may be from other causes.

Have they been measured?

Could be. May or may not be age related.

Not unusual from age 35 on, regardless of uterine status.

If not contraindicated, birth control pills may be helpful and are used by many for just such symptoms.

If you're going to go on the pill, no testing is necessary.

Either is fine but I'd recommend the gyn since s/he didi the surgery and should follow up on any problems post-operatively, even those not directly caused by the surgery.

IN addition to the pill, there are several medication now recommended for PMDD, the psychological part of PMS. Speak to your doctor about this as well.
