depo provera shots and chest pain, shortness of breathFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 5 Oct 2000 15:10:44 -0500 (CDT)
My 17 yr olddaughter has been taking depo shots for about a year now. in the last 5 months there have been 2 instances of her having severe chest pain. The first time we were told the she had pleuresy(sP). The second time was almost like it was around a panic attack. I simply sat with her and made her calm down. She has comlained of back pain for about a year, that we attributed to a slight car accident, and she is also taking zoloft for depression. As I have been researching depo online, I am really worried that the panic attacks and shortness of breath, back pain are cause by the depo. I am also worried about pulomonary throbosis(sP. She is due to go back Oct 9th for her next shot, and I would like to know if there are any tests we can ask for to confirm whether or not the depo is causing this. I am REALLY nervous about her getting another shot, but she is determined that she would like to continue this form of Birth control..... I don't want to lose her because of the "convenience" of depo. Am I nuts or is there something to worry about??? Thank you!
