not a gyn question - please answer though... :-)

Hello,

my mother is going in for an OP on her thyroid next week. She had a similar operation 30 years ago and was left with a very ugly keloid scar (I have inherited that tendency). Now, she is frightened that the new scar will be equally bad. What can she do to avoid it? Do these silicone gels really work - the patches seem to not be really good for this awkward spot... And if they work, is there any product you could recommend? (My mom lives in Europe, I'd have to get it here and send it.)

Thanks, Anna
