yeast infections--more ?'s

Ok so after reading all this, it seems like there are alot of home rememdies. I have never put anything different in that area that before, and I most certainly do not douche (I thought that was certainly a thing of the past). Thing is, I didn't ever have a yeast infection until this one. Near as I can tell, it started after I was raped. Does sexual activity have an effect on them? Could that have been a reason it happened?
