Cryotherapy, laser, LEEP, LLETZ, TCA application, and electrocautery are all equally effective at destroying either mid, moderate, or severe dysplasia or carcinoma in situ. They all destroy the cells in the area where they are applied. The problem is that the lesions are caused by a virus that is in most of the cells of the vagina and cervix. It just sits and waits for the right time ot express it self and cause the dysplasia to recur. Stopping smoking is one thing that has the best effect on preventing its recurrence.
