Treatment for dysplasiaFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 30 Sep 2000 10:43:04 -0500 (CDT)
I am 20 years old and have been disagnosd with severe dysplasia. Intially, my gyn thought the dysplasia was moderate but when he actually looked at my cervix he thought it was severe and did a biopsy. I am scheduled to have cryotherapy on Tuesday but Iam unsure if that if that is the best method of treatment. The research that I have done tells me that cryotherapy is usually done for low grade cells and not high grade cells like I have. I know my doctor is considering my age by choosing the cryotherapy but is that really the best treatment in my case? I have also read other messages posted here where women who had abnormal cells frozen off had to have laser or some other more invasive treatment later for cells that were left behind. Also, can you please tell me how long the healing process takes for laser and cryotherapy and when can sex be resumed after each. Thank you.
